Ikenga Ugochinyere, a representative in the House of Representatives for Ideato North South Federal Constituency in Imo State, has commented on an incident that occurred in Rivers State.

According to Ugochinyere, during a protest, some participants brought dynamite, which subsequently detonated and caused injuries.

In a video posted by TVC News on their YouTube channel from 17:17, Ugochinyere expressed his satisfaction that the explosion exclusively harmed those who had introduced the dynamite.

He used this event as a stern warning to others, emphasising the risks associated with engaging in such perilous activities.

He urged potential protesters to carefully consider the consequences of their actions before participating in dangerous demonstrations.

The lawmaker stressed that those who promote and incite such risky behaviour are unlikely to support the families of individuals who get hurt or lose their lives during these incidents.

Ugochinyere’s remarks come in the wake of increasing concerns about the safety and legality of protests in the region.

He reiterated the importance of peaceful and lawful demonstrations, noting that resorting to violence and dangerous methods undermines the legitimacy of any protest.

In his message, Ugochinyere called for a more thoughtful approach to protests, one that prioritises safety and the rule of law.

He emphasised that meaningful change can be achieved without resorting to violence or endangering lives.

Ugochinyere said, “People went on protest with dynamite, and as God will have it, the dynamite exploded and cut off their hands. I was so happy when that happened, but people should learn.
