Primate Elijah Ayodele, leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has warned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that he must intensify his efforts to secure re-election in 2027, cautioning that support from the APC’s traditional strongholds cannot be assumed.

In a video from 6:55, The cleric specifically pointed to Lagos State, a key political base for Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC), claiming that even members of the ruling party may be unwilling to vote for the president.

Ayodele’s warning comes as political parties and potential contenders begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections. He stressed that party loyalty and established political connections alone may not be enough to secure another term for Tinubu.

The cleric suggested that the president would need to address Nigerians’ concerns, demonstrate stronger performance and give voters convincing reasons to renew his mandate.

Tinubu governed Lagos State from 1999 to 2007 before becoming a prominent figure in the APC and winning the 2023 presidential election. The next election will take place amid public scrutiny of the federal government’s performance, economic conditions, security concerns and the opposition’s preparations.

Ayodele’s central warning was that Tinubu should not assume that even his party’s supporters in Lagos would automatically back him in 2027.
