Former AMAC candidate Moses Paul has disclosed the message delivered by the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, to Peter Obi and his running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, during their visit to Sokoto State.
Paul revealed this in a post on his official X handle on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, following the meeting at the Sultan’s palace.
According to him, the traditional ruler reminded the NDC presidential candidate and his running mate that political positions should not be placed above the country’s long-term interests.
Paul also disclosed that the Sultan said he had known Obi since 1980, when the politician was still a young university student.
Sharing the message he said the Sultan delivered during the visit, Paul wrote, “The Sultan reminded them of a truth that should never be forgotten: political offices are temporary but the peace and unity of Nigeria are permanent responsibilities”.
