The Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) has accused its opponents of obstructing the party’s efforts to secure venues for its activities, saying it is now paying for a fourth location after encountering problems with previous venues.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, made the allegation during a television interview on Arise News, according to a video published on Sunday, October 25, 2026.

During the interview from 08:05, the host noted reports that the party had been denied access to venues it had paid to use, with their managers reportedly asking it to collect refunds.

Director blamed the situation on the All Progressives Congress (APC), alleging that those who claim ownership of Abuja and Nigeria were preventing the opposition party from securing a place to hold its activities. He also said the NDC had been denied access to billboards.

The party spokesman maintained that the restrictions would not stop the NDC from proceeding with its plans, insisting that Nigerians could not be intimidated or sidelined.

He said, “They have deprived us of having billboards, but we have told them Nigerians are telling them loud and clear. It is not what you mount on the roadside.

“This is the fourth venue we are paying for. We kept this one under wraps until just a few hours ago, when we issued the press release, only for us to be called that the political marauders have come and said they are the owners of the land, so we should take back our money.

“But we are insisting and telling them that we are Nigerians, we cannot be intimidated, we cannot be pushed aside,” he said.

When asked by the host whether the party would proceed with its planned activities despite the reported difficulties, Director said it would, stressing that Nigeria belongs to everyone.

The NDC plans to inaugurate its national campaign council on Monday, commission its new national secretariat in Jabi, Abuja, and present certificates of return to its candidates.
