Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has declared that he does not share in the vision of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike regarding the revival of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Umahi made this known during an appearance on TVC from 7:08, where he distanced himself from any political alignment with Wike concerning the opposition party.
According to him, he was unaware of any candidate the FCT Minister might be backing in Ebonyi State, stating that no such candidate has been brought to his attention.
He said, “I don’t know if Wike has a candidate here in Ebonyi State, he has not told me that he has a candidate here. But his candidate cannot break our relationship, and his candidate is not part of our relationship. I killed PDP when I left PDP, and if they are still alive, we’ll have to unalive them,” Umahi said.
The Minister traced the origin of his rift with the PDP to what he described as a deep sense of betrayal felt by the Southeast region.
He explained that the region had stood firmly behind the party, consistently delivering votes for its presidential candidates, only for the PDP to turn its back on them when it was time to repay that loyalty. Instead, he said, the party subjected the region to unfair treatment.
Umahi, however, made it clear that the Ebonyi State governor is not engaged in any political battle with the FCT Minister.
He noted that certain political candidates in the state are merely attempting to ride on the influence of the FCT Minister to boost their support base.
