According to a report by The Sun, on Wednesday May 6, 2026, Nollywood actor and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Yul Edochie has criticized Peter Obi, a former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, over his recent political moves.
Edochie made the statements following Obi’s exit from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and his reported move to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the 2027 general elections, Edochie said Obi’s habit of switching parties shows weak leadership.
He argued that a true leader should remain in a party during difficult moments and work to resolve internal problems and described Obi’s approach as avoiding responsibility and choosing easier paths instead of facing challenges directly.
Peter Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, has been active in several political platforms in recent years, he left the Labour Party structure and later aligned with the ADC before reports of his latest move to the NDC, his political associate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, also joined him in the new alignment, these shifts are part of wider realignments ahead of the next election cycle in Nigeria’s political space, according to Yul Edochie, leadership requires staying through conflict and building solutions from within not running away.
“Peter Obi is not a leader. Forget sentiments, he has no leadership qualities. If you keep running away from your party when conflicts arise, you can’t stay to fix issues and come out on top, you’ll rather run to another place, that’s cowardice,” he said…Read_More…
