A victim of abduction in Kaduna State, identified as Umar Usman, is facing severe health challenges months after regaining freedom from kidnappers, following over 60 days in captivity.
According to a report by Trust TV from 0:45 aired on Sunday, May 3, 2026, the elderly man was abducted at Danurutu in Chuku Local Government Area of Kaduna State. He was later released after spending more than two months in captivity.
“He reportedly spent more than 60 days in captivity after he was abducted by kidnappers at Danurutu in Chuku local government area of Kaduna State. After his release, he was rushed to the hospital due to his critical health condition caused by torture and starvation while in captivity,” the correspondent reported.
The report added that despite multiple hospital admissions, Umar Usman continues to suffer from serious medical complications affecting his mobility. “Despite several admissions in different hospitals, he is still battling severe health challenges, especially injuries to his legs and hands which remain in poor condition and affect his mobility,” the correspondent stated.
Speaking on his condition, Umar Usman described the extent of his physical limitations and the impact on his daily life.
“I’m facing a lot of challenges especially health challenges. You can see me now, I can’t use my hands and my legs. I can’t do anything on my own, even holding my handset to operate. Even talk of sleep in the night, I don’t sleep at night because I cannot move myself. If I am laying down on the bed, that is how I am calling them to come and change positions for me,” he said.
The report further highlighted the financial strain on the victim, as he continues to seek medical care with limited resources. “Umar Usman continues to visit hospital in hopes of recovery, but the elderly man is struggling to meet medical expenses, relying on support from his family,” the correspondent added.
Umar also explained the logistical challenges involved in accessing healthcare services. “To be able to move, I need somebody who will be driving around to visit the hospitals where I am supposed to be looked after. Presently, I am not feeling well,” he said.
Due to ongoing security concerns in his community, the victim and his family have relocated from their residence. “Due to persistent attacks recorded in Nungunutu, Chuku local government area, Umar and his family have relocated from their home to stay with relatives in the metropolis,” the correspondent reported…Read_More…
