Nyesom Wike’s Media aide Lere Olayinka has reacted to the resignation of activist and politician Omoyele Sowore as National Chairman of the African Action Congress after emerging as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 election.
Reacting through his X account, Olayinka mocked Sowore’s decision to step down, suggesting that he would later return to reclaim the chairmanship position after the election. He also teased Sowore over his previous election performances, describing him as the party’s permanent presidential candidate and chairman.
The AAC had earlier announced that Sowore resigned from his position as National Chairman shortly after winning the party’s presidential ticket during its primaries held in Abuja.
The party confirmed that Samuel Ajeigbe would now serve as the new National Chairman as preparations begin for the 2027 general elections.
Sowore secured the party’s ticket through what party members described as a unanimous endorsement by delegates and leaders at the primary election.
While accepting the nomination, Sowore said the AAC was created to build a better Nigeria free from corruption, insecurity, and poor governance. He also accused the ruling All Progressives Congress of trying to influence public opinion ahead of the 2027 election.
