The Governor of Rivers State, Governor Siminalayi Fubara has addressed the recent attempts to destabilize Rivers State, attributing their failure to divine intervention. He warned against any further attempts, likening the potential fate of those who tries to disrupt the peace of the state to that of the fate of the suicide bomber who was apprehended few days ago.
He reiterated a longstanding declaration that those opposing Rivers State will face consequences, emphasizing the power of such public declarations to shape reality. He expressed his aspiration to finish his tenure peacefully, envisioning a future where he can walk freely without heavy security in the state. He appealed for support in achieving this goal, urging the Ikwerre people to remain peaceful despite any provocations they may face.
He said in a live coverage by Arise TV, ”I want to leave this office and be a peaceful man that can walk without security. That is the greatest achievement of a good leader. When a leader leaves office and he surrounds himself with army and security, it means something is wrong somewhere. So I want to appeal that you’ll help me achieve it. I want you to also be peaceful no matter the level of provocation.
What they want is to set this state on fire but the God that we serve did not allow them. Some of them who attempted it, what happened to their hand? What happened to the suicide bomber is what will happen to anybody that tries to set Rivers State on fire. After all we said it some years back that anybody who is against Rivers State will not know Peace. It is a public declaration, what you declare is what will happen. We want peace and that peace is what will abide in Rivers State.”…..Seë_Morë
