Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) spokesperson Osa Director has questioned Nyesom Wike’s claim that he prevented Peter Obi from winning Rivers State during the 2023 presidential election.
In a statement shared on his official X account on Thursday, September 24, 2026, Osa Director responded to the FCT Minister’s recent comments about Obi’s performance in the South-South region.
He questioned whether Wike could also be credited with Obi’s performance in Lagos State, where Obi defeated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election.
Osa Director also referenced Obi’s performance in some North Central states while challenging Wike’s account of events.
He further criticised the FCT Minister over the comment and said the 2027 presidential election would be different from that of 2023.
In his statement, Osa Director said:
“If truly he made Obi win in the South-South, was he also the one who made Obi defeat President Tinubu in Lagos State, which has been under his vice grip for over two decades? Was he the one who made Obi clear some North Central states like Plateau?”.
