Ovie Success Ossai, the Senior Special Assistant on Media to Delta State Governor, has asserted that the political ambitions of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso under the banner of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) are destined for failure.

In a post on his Facebook page on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, Ossai expressed disappointment in the duo’s strategy, claiming they are out of touch with the current national sentiment.

He argued that Nigeria’s political architecture is not built to support the NDC, particularly as a vast majority of the electorate, approximately 90% by his estimation favors the All Progressives Congress (APC) due to the tangible achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Ossai’s critique extended to the regional influence of the opposition leaders, specifically noting that Kwankwaso lacks the leverage to deliver Kano State to the new alliance.

He wrote, “I am disappointed that Peter Obi and Kwankwaso are thinking they can win election with NDC. 90% of Nigerians are rooting for APC based on visible achievements of Tinubu. Nigeria is not built for NDC and Nigerians are not ready for that considering the impacts of President Tinubu to Nigerians. Meanwhile Kwankwaso will not deliver Kano state to NDC and Peter Obi!”

This public dismissal comes as Peter Obi and Kwankwaso officially defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to join the NDC.

The reasons for this defection centered on a breakdown in administrative synergy within the ADC.

Following months of internal power struggles and disagreements over the party’s executive structure, both leaders concluded that the ADC could no longer facilitate a viable path to the presidency.

By moving to the NDC, they aimed to merge their respective grassroots movements into a singular, more disciplined front.
