Ovie Success Ossai, the Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Delta State Governor, has criticised Peter Obi’s recent visit to businessman Isaac Fayose, saying the meeting added little political value.
In a statement shared on his Facebook handle on Saturday, July 18, 2026, Ossai argued that Obi was concentrating on the wrong priorities by reaching out to an online personality instead of strengthening relationships with political figures who command support at the grassroots.
“Peter Obi is prioritizing relationships with content creators over real politicians. He rushed to meet Isaac because he was afraid the guy would turn his online base against him,” he wrote.
Ossai maintained that such engagements would not improve the former Anambra State governor’s electoral prospects.
The visit followed a heated exchange between Fayose and some supporters of Obi. The disagreement began after a video surfaced online showing Fayose alongside Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu, and businessman Pascal Okechukwu, widely known as Cubana Chief Priest.
During the gathering, prayers were offered for the President and the country, a development that drew criticism from sections of the Obidient movement, with some questioning Fayose’s political loyalty.
In response, Fayose expressed disappointment over the backlash, insisting he had stood by Obi during the 2023 presidential campaign.
He said he made personal contributions, including providing accommodation and financial assistance, but felt his efforts were never acknowledged by the former Labour Party presidential candidate.
Reacting to the situation, Ossai dismissed the significance of Fayose’s political influence, arguing that the businessman does not control any established political structure capable of delivering votes.
He further claimed Obi’s decision to visit him was aimed at preventing further criticism from the influencer and his online followers rather than advancing any meaningful political objective.
Despite the criticism, Obi used the meeting to appeal for calm.
He said many of those attacking Fayose online were not genuine members of his support base and reiterated his willingness to accept honest criticism.
At the end of the visit, Fayose publicly reaffirmed his backing for Obi, expressing confidence in his future political ambitions….See More
