Dele Momodu, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has cast doubt on the true extent of Nyesom Wike’s political influence, suggesting the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory’s standing may hinge on his government position.
Channels TV From 22:34 reported that Momodu made the remarks on Friday, September 25, 2026, during an appearance on Channels Television.
According to Momodu, Wike’s influence could shift the moment he loses his ministerial role under President Bola Tinubu.
“The day President Bola Tinubu removes him as minister, he will realise that he is a god with feet of clay,” Momodu said.
The ADC chieftain also took aim at Wike’s style of politics, claiming the FCT Minister is focusing on matters and political figures that Momodu regards as less important.
Turning to the 2027 general elections, Momodu said the ADC will ramp up its presidential campaign in the coming weeks, with more political activity expected as the vote draws closer.
He explained that the party plans to use the campaign to display its organisational strength and prove its presence nationwide.
Momodu also weighed in on the political situation surrounding former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai. He alleged that El-Rufai’s political influence in the Northwest contributed to the circumstances that led to his detention.
That claim remains an allegation from Momodu and has not been established as fact.
The comments come as political activity intensifies ahead of 2027, with opposition groups and key figures positioning themselves for the contest.
