The Commissioner of Police in Kogi State, Naziru Kankarofi, has revealed that the APC chairman in Dekina Local Government Area, Yunusa Abu Ishaq, was shot and killed by his abductors after he physically resisted being abducted and that the kidnappers did not even know who he was at the time.
Speaking on Channels TV from 7:53, Kankarofi said, “In the case of the chairman, the kidnappers didn’t even know that he was the APC chairman. Because from our investigation, he struggled with them, he resisted being abducted, and as a result of that situation, they fired at him and he eventually died. To the best of my knowledge, the police and other security forces have dominated the area,” he said.
He also addressed widespread reports that a second person travelling with the APC chairman was abducted and taken into the bush.
He noted that he could not confirm the identity of that individual or verify whether they had been rescued, as he did not have the relevant records available at the time of speaking.
