Donu Kogbara, a renowned and well respected international journalist has taken to her official X handle to react to the comments made by the former chairman of the national human rights commission, professor Chidi Odinkalu over the death of Miss Mary Habila.
According to the statements which were shared on her official X handle on Thursday July 16th, she pointed out that the former governor was able to escape public scrutiny because of his political status.
Professor Chidi Odinkalu, it can be recalled, had raised serious concerns after family members of the late Miss Mary Habila were reportedly denied access to her remains.
“I now understand the grieving family of Ms Habila left Abakaliki yesterday after being denied access to see her remains. Who can be this cruel?” Chidi Odinkalu had remarked.
Mary Habila, a young lady in service of the minister for works and former governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi tragically lost her life due to yet to be established circumstances.
Her death as expected, sent shockwaves across the country, with many calling for proper investigation to unravel the mystery behind her early demise. However, the denial of access to her remains raised serious questions.
