Former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha has described how residents of the state initially reacted negatively when he presented President Bola Tinubu’s picture during a recent gathering to discuss the 2027 election.

Speaking in an interview from 20:17 with Arise TV, Okorocha said some of the people questioned why he wanted them to support Tinubu, expressing surprise at his position.

He explained that he spent about 30 minutes addressing their concerns, highlighting what he described as Tinubu’s good relationship with the Igbo people and the benefits he believed they could gain by supporting the president.

According to Okorocha, the residents changed their reaction after listening to his explanation, with those present leaving the meeting while clapping.

Recounting their initial response, Okorocha said, “I gathered some few Imo people last time and I put President Tinubu’s picture. The reaction was bad, very terrible. They said ‘Your Excellency what is happening, you want us to follow Tinubu?’ That was the first question I had from people and I laughed. When I sat them down and drilled them within the time for 30 minutes, everybody left clapping”
