Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has defended his government’s recent military operation against Iran, insisting it was necessary to stop what he described as an immediate and dangerous nuclear threat.
In a video from 03:00 message shared via IsraeliPM, Netanyahu explained that the campaign was launched to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons and massively expanding its missile capabilities. He said Israel was facing an urgent security situation that required fast and decisive action.
“Why did we go into this campaign? Because Iran was very close to obtaining nuclear weapons and the ability to produce thousands of missiles thousands, not just a handful hundreds falling on us daily,” he stated.
He warned that Israel was confronting two major existential threats: Iran’s nuclear progress and its capacity for large-scale missile attacks. According to him, both threats could not be allowed to materialize.
Netanyahu further claimed that Israel’s intervention successfully stopped Iran from reaching atomic weapon capability. “If we had not acted, Iran would already have atomic bombs. We prevented that,” he said, describing the operation as a necessary preemptive move to protect national survival.
He added that Israeli intelligence played a central role in the decision-making process, saying authorities received information suggesting Iran was advancing toward weaponizing enriched uranium. “The moment we received that intelligence, we acted,” he explained.
Although he did not provide details about the intelligence sources or the specific military actions taken, his remarks emphasized close coordination between Israel’s defense and intelligence institutions.
