Dr. Dickson Osagie, a global security analyst, has stated that he was born in Maiduguri, Borno State and he schooled in northern Nigeria.
Speaking in an interview from 18:04 with TVC, Osagie stated that the primary school he attended was highly vulnerable to attacks in the 1980s. He stated that he and other pupils often had to jump through classroom windows to escape danger during the Maitatsine uprising.
Osagie also called on the government to revisit the Safe Schools Declaration, saying its protocols should be reviewed and properly implemented to stop criminal groups from entering schools and abducting children.
In Osagie’s words: “I schooled in the north. I was born in Borno State, Maiduguri precisely and I grew up in Sokoto State. The primary school I attended was highly vulnerable as at the 80s. And sometimes when an incident happens during the time of Maitatsine we tend to jump through the window. At the age of 8 and 9 I was jumping through the window to run for safety.
