Former Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani has praised the newly inaugurated Abuja City Walk, describing it as a worthwhile investment that should have been undertaken decades ago.
Sani made the remarks in a post on his verified X account on Sunday while reacting to the project, which was recently inaugurated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as part of ongoing infrastructure development initiatives in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) under the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike.
According to the former lawmaker, the City Walk would significantly enhance Abuja’s status among major cities around the world while creating economic opportunities for residents.
“Abuja City Walk is a great investment for the future of the city. It’s something that ought to have been done decades ago,” Sani wrote.
He added that the project would contribute to tourism, commerce and job creation, while leaving a lasting legacy for future generations.
“It will elevate the status of the city to that of other great cities in the world. It’s an investment in tourism, job opportunities and commerce. Long after we are gone, this will be part of the legacy the future generations will appreciate,” he stated.
Addressing concerns about the cost of the project, Sani argued that although the investment was substantial, the funds were being put into visible public infrastructure rather than being lost to corruption.
“The money invested is much, but it’s money that can be stolen by one person,” he added.
