Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election, has said he won 12 states despite not having the support of any governor during the election.

In an interview from 15:08 with ADVOCACY FOR GOOD GOVERNANCE on Friday, July 17, 2026, Obi said he was able to win 12 states without the backing of any state governor. He stated that even though he believed one of the states he won was taken away from him, he still recorded victory in 12 states.

The former Anambra State governor also spoke about the number of states in Nigeria, saying the Supreme Court’s judgement showed that Abuja could become a state. He added that Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso won Kano State during the election.
