Anthony Ehilebo, a legal practitioner and member of the PDP Turaki faction, has said his group has already chosen former President Goodluck Jonathan as its preferred candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking during an interview from 14.24 on Channels Television, Ehilebo said he was surprised that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, had not publicly supported Jonathan.

According to Ehilebo, Jonathan played an important role in Wike’s political rise by appointing him as a junior minister and supporting his emergence as governor of Rivers State. He said he expected Wike to stand behind Jonathan if the PDP eventually presents him as its presidential candidate.

Ehilebo added that he personally believes in showing loyalty to people who have helped him. He said that if Wike had ever similarly supported him, he would never speak against or work against him.

He also argued that Jonathan is not someone who aggressively seeks political power but focuses on serving the people whenever he is allowed to lead.

Ehilebo maintained that Jonathan remains the preferred choice of the Turaki faction and questioned why Wike had not openly backed him, considering their political history.
