In a recent interview from 36:15 on Trust TV, Bolaji Abdullahi, National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), expressed confidence in the opposition’s prospects ahead of the 2027 presidential election while criticizing the performance of the current administration.
Abdullahi argued that many Nigerians are dissatisfied with the state of the economy, insecurity, and the rising cost of living. According to him, these concerns have significantly influenced public opinion and could shape the outcome of the next general election.
Speaking during the interview, Abdullahi stated, “I bet you that in a free and fair election, by 12 noon the election is over and BAT is out.” He made the remark while responding to questions about the chances of President Bola Tinubu and the APC in the 2027 contest.
According to him, the ruling party would struggle to convince Nigerians that conditions in the country have improved under its leadership. He argued that many citizens are experiencing economic hardship and insecurity despite promises made during the 2023 election campaign.
Abdullahi further noted that the ADC believes voters are increasingly seeking alternatives that can provide practical solutions to national challenges. He maintained that the opposition’s confidence is based on what it sees as widespread public dissatisfaction with current conditions.
The ADC spokesperson also emphasized the importance of credible elections, insisting that the will of the people should be the determining factor in any democratic contest. He argued that transparent and fair elections are essential to strengthening Nigeria’s democracy.
He concluded by expressing confidence that Nigerians would carefully evaluate the performance of political leaders and parties before casting their votes in 2027, stressing that the ADC intends to present itself as a strong alternative to the ruling party.
