Former presidential aide and political commentator Reno Omokri has sparked discussion on social media after sharing a strongly worded defense of Nigeria’s international reputation and the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a Facebook post published on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, Omokri challenged what he described as long-standing negative perceptions about Nigeria, particularly claims that corruption is deeply embedded in the country’s identity.
Omokri argued that Nigeria is frequently subjected to labels and stereotypes that fail to accurately represent the realities of the nation and its people. According to him, many of the assumptions commonly made about the country are either exaggerated or based on misconceptions that overlook the contributions and character of millions of law-abiding Nigerians.
Making his position clear, Omokri stated:“Nigeria Is Not a Corrupt Country.”The former presidential aide maintained that such characterizations often overshadow positive developments and fail to recognize the efforts of individuals and organizations working to strengthen governance, accountability, and national development.
Beyond addressing the country’s image, Omokri also used the post to express strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He defended the Nigerian leader against criticism and portrayed him as a public official whose leadership deserves greater recognition.In one of the most striking portions of his message, Omokri declared:“President Tinubu Is One of the Cleanest Leaders On Earth Right Now.”
