In a video from 9:03 shared by Splash FM 1055, former President Goodluck Jonathan stated that he both loved and disliked visiting Lagos when he was president
Jonathan said whenever he arrived at Lagos airport during his tenure as president, he would used a helicopter to fly to the President’s Residence in Lagos instead of going by road.
Jonathan said he avoided driving through the city because it could cause serious congestion and disruption for other road users. He stated that whenever he had an event anywhere in Lagos, he also used a helicopter to land close to the venue rather than drive through the city.
In Jonathan’s words: “Even when I was in office I loved coming to Lagos but I also disliked coming to Lagos. Because if you as a sitting president come into Lagos and you attempt to control traffic for VIP movement, the kind of chaos you would set up in the city would be so much. So when I land at the airport I would use helicopter to fly to the President’s Residence. And if I have a program anywhere in Lagos I would use helicopter to land close to that place, I don’t drive”
