Senator Osita Izunaso has expressed optimism that the economic hardship facing Nigerians will ease as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration continues its reform programme into the next tenure.
Izunaso, who serves as Director of the Directorate of Organisation of the PBAT APC 2027 Presidential Campaign Council, made the remarks during an interview from 6:15 on TVC News’ FCT Brief programme on Tuesday, October 27, 2026.
He acknowledged that Nigerians were experiencing difficult economic conditions but argued that the reforms introduced by Tinubu’s administration were beginning to yield results that could reduce the impact of the hardship in the coming years.
The senator pointed to the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) and what he described as improved stability in the university system as examples of progress under the administration.
He also proposed amending the NELFUND law to enable state governments to contribute to the fund, while calling for skills acquisition programmes to help bridge the gap between university education and employment.
Explaining his expectations for the coming years, Izunaso said, “I believe that by the time we complete this tenure and move into the next one, people will no longer complain about hardship to the extent they do today. By then, the reforms will have begun to produce results that will cushion the effects of the hardship we are discussing.”
