U.S. Senator Tom Cotton has called for decisive action to eliminate Hezbollah, the Lebanese militant group supported by Iran, warning that the group poses a direct threat to both Israel and American interests in the Middle East.

In a statement on his verified Twitter account, Cotton urged the United States to assist Israel in dismantling Hezbollah, labeling the group as a dangerous Iranian-backed terrorist proxy that has been involved in multiple acts of aggression across the region.

“The United States should help Israel eliminate Hezbollah once and for all,” Cotton asserted, emphasizing that Iran should not be allowed to maintain a terrorist proxy capable of attacking civilians or U.S. troops stationed in the region. Hezbollah, which has been a prominent player in regional instability, has been involved in several conflicts with Israel and has been accused of orchestrating attacks against American forces in Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq.

The senator’s comments come amid increasing tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, particularly along the Israel-Lebanon border. Hezbollah, which has long been funded and armed by Iran, has positioned itself as one of Israel’s primary adversaries in the region. The group’s growing arsenal of rockets and its proximity to Israeli territory have heightened concerns about potential future conflicts.

Cotton’s remarks echo broader concerns within U.S. policy circles about Iran’s influence in the Middle East. Iran’s support for Hezbollah, along with its backing of other militant groups like Hamas and Iraqi militias, has been a focal point of tensions with the U.S. and Israel. Cotton has consistently advocated for a tougher stance on Iran, calling for the elimination of its proxies as a means of reducing threats to U.S. personnel and allies in the region.
