‎‎In a recent interview with The Sun on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, the member representing Idemili North and South Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Uchenna Harris Okonkwo, has confirmed that he has left his former political party and joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

‎Okonkwo stated that he has already completed his defection process, he made it clear that his decision was firm and official, according to him, the move is part of a wider political realignment as politicians begin to prepare for the next election cycle.

‎The lawmaker revealed that he joined the ADC alongside his political ally, Peter Obi, he said their focus now is to strengthen the party and work towards securing the presidential ticket for Obi in 2027 and added that efforts are ongoing within the party to build unity and position it as a strong alternative.

‎Speaking about his personal ambition, Okonkwo said he plans to return to the National Assembly for a second term, he expressed confidence in his chances and said he is ready to contest again to continue representing his constituency and noted that serving his people remains his priority and that he hopes to receive their support once more.

‎Okonkwo assured his supporters that his move to the ADC is in their best interest, je said he remains committed to effective representation and development in his constituency.

‎”I have formally, officially, and unequivocally defected to the ADC along with my leader, Peter Obi, whom, of course, we are going to make sure we battle so that he gets the ticket of our party to contest in the 2027 elections for the presidency,” he said. Read_More…
