Speaking during an interview From 1:03:53 on Mic On Podcast, lawmaker representing Ebonyi North Senatorial District, Senator Onyekachi Nwaebonyi, spoke about his commitment to supporting education, revealing that he personally funded the school fees of hundreds of students as part of his effort to give back to society.
The senator said that only a few weeks ago he announced that he had paid the school fees of 930 students, stressing that the initiative was entirely financed from his personal resources without relying on government funds.
He explained that the education support project cost him more than ₦100 million, adding that he made personal sacrifices to ensure the students benefited because he believes that investing in education is one of the best ways to transform lives and secure a better future for young people.
In Nwaebonyi’s words: “Just a few weeks ago, your channel carried it. I paid the school fees of 930 students. I spent over ₦100 million. That is my personal project. I sold all my yam and rice. I said, ‘God, You gave me this. I give it back to You.’ I’m a young man. I found myself in the Senate, and from day one, I said that if I wanted to be a senator, I had made up my mind to write my name in gold.”
