According to a report by The Times Of Israel on July 10, 2026, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that it recently destroyed five Hamas tunnels stretching a combined distance of about two kilometers in the northern Gaza Strip. The tunnels were located on the Israeli-controlled side of the ceasefire line, and the operation was carried out by reservists serving with the 14th Armored Brigade.

The military said the demolition mission formed part of its ongoing efforts to eliminate Hamas’s underground infrastructure in areas under Israeli control. Engineering teams and combat forces worked together to locate and destroy the tunnel network, which the IDF considers a key component of Hamas’s military capabilities.

Following the completion of the mission, the 14th Armored Brigade concluded its deployment in the Gaza Strip. The unit has now been withdrawn from the territory after completing its assigned operations.

The IDF confirmed that responsibility for the sector has been transferred to the 179th Armored Brigade, which will continue military activities in the area. The rotation of forces is part of the military’s operational planning as it maintains its presence in Gaza.
