Renowned journalist and public speaker, Oseni Rufai, recently shared his experience on his official X handle (formally known as Twitter), revealing that some Nigerian governors supported protests when the naira notes were redesigned.
The journalist said that some of the governors asked the indigenes of their states to disobey the president because they were unable to access money.
Oseni said, “When the Naira redesign policy happened and politicians were starved of money, when the people protested, these same politicians supported it; in fact, some governors publicly asked their citizens to disobey the president then. Some of these governors never stopped protesting in their state; in fact, they welcomed the protests with their rhetoric. This happened in February 2023.”
