Segun Showunmi, a member of the Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign Council, has praised the Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, for speaking out about the communication of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Showunmi’s reaction came after the emir criticised the president’s spokespersons, saying they had failed to properly explain the government’s policies and often viewed suggestions as attacks.
The former campaign council member shared his response on X on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, where he expressed appreciation for the monarch’s willingness to contribute to national discussions.
Sanusi had said the administration needed better spokespersons who could communicate its position effectively.
Responding to the comments, Showunmi argued that public discourse should not be left solely to government spokespersons and political representatives. He urged people with knowledge and an understanding of the country’s challenges to contribute to national conversations.
Showunmi wrote, “I genuinely appreciate your courage and your willingness to rise above the noise when it matters most.
“We cannot leave the national conversation entirely to spokespersons and political mouthpieces. Those who have a voice, knowledge and a deep appreciation of what is at stake must speak up on behalf of all of us”.
