Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has urged his supporters to stop referring to him as their leader, saying the Rainbow Coalition now has only one leader, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike.
Speaking from 2:49 in a media report by TVC, Fubara said some of his supporters who stood with him during the political crisis had continued to address him as their leader during meetings, despite the reconciliation between him and Wike.
He asked them to put an end to the practice, stressing that they were now members of the same political camp and should recognise one leader.
Fubara’s remarks made clear his acceptance of Wike’s leadership within the Rainbow Coalition following their reconciliation.
The governor also reflected on the reconciliation, describing his renewed relationship with Wike as a return home rather than a mere political arrangement. He expressed gratitude that, despite their past differences, they had reunited.
Fubara further acknowledged Wike’s role in his emergence as Rivers State governor, saying he would not have attained the position without God working through the FCT minister.
Speaking about the issue with his supporters, Fubara said, “I’m aware that there are some issues with some persons who followed me when we had the crisis. When you are in your meetings, you call me your leader but we are now in one house and we have only one leader. So please, going forward, this issue of calling me ‘my leader, my leader’ I want it resolved here and now,”
