FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has pointed to his political history with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as he questioned the former presidential candidate’s consistency ahead of the 2027 general election.
Wike spoke at a Rainbow Coalition event in Rivers State, where the group unveiled its candidates and reaffirmed its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. In a video from 11:05 shared by Channels TV on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, the minister urged the audience to consider Atiku’s political record when assessing his credibility.
The minister drew on their previous encounter in the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential primary, where both men contested for the party’s ticket in 2022. He said their political relationship dated back to 2019.
“I ran against him in the 2022 presidential primaries, so I have known him since 2019,” Wike said.
He also accused Atiku of taking different positions at different times, arguing that political agreements and assurances should be assessed against a politician’s actions and consistency.
Wike used the gathering to call on Rivers residents and other political stakeholders to back Tinubu through the Rainbow Coalition, saying members of different parties had agreed to support the president’s re-election bid.
