In a recent interview on TVC TV from 3:17, Presidential Special Adviser on Media, Daniel Bwala, addressed concerns about the administration’s response to opposition criticism, emphasizing the government’s preference for policy-focused discourse.
When questioned about the administration’s apparent dismissal of opposition views, particularly those of Atiku Abubakar regarding democratic accountability, the interviewer pressed: “Don’t you consider it dismissive if you say, ‘Don’t listen to them; what they’re saying doesn’t matter’? Isn’t that the whole essence of democracy—to get the full side of the story, I mean the different sides to it?”
In response, Bwala defended the administration’s stance, stating: “No, we are actually waiting. We are already on our ideas. What is the idea of the All Progressives Congress, and what is the idea of the President? The idea of the President is reflected in his policies.”
The presidential aide further elaborated on the administration’s approach: “Anytime we intervene in the media, on all areas that we find the opportunity, we talk about ideas—issues of the economy. So, if you want to come and meet us, talk about the economy. Don’t be talking about personality and insults.”
Highlighting key policy areas, Bwala added: “We talk about the growth process, and we talk about indices of growth. We talk about dealing with insecurity because we believe if you deal with that, you’ll be able to have our people go to farms. Our people go to farms, and we will have increased production of agricultural produce.”
