In a recent interview from 7:59 shared by Arise News, PDP chieftain Umar Sani reflected on past political dynamics within the opposition and revisited remarks made during the 2023 presidential race by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Sani recalled that while campaigning for the presidency in 2023, Wike toured several states across the country seeking support from party stakeholders and delegates. According to him, Wike consistently emphasized his readiness to shoulder the responsibility of the presidential race if given the opportunity.
Quoting the former governor’s campaign message, Sani stated, “Leave the ticket for me, and I’ll do the rest.” The remark, he suggested, reflected Wike’s confidence in his financial and political capacity to manage a presidential bid independently, without heavy reliance on party funding.
Sani used the statement to highlight ongoing debates within the People’s Democratic Party regarding internal strength, funding, and candidate preparedness ahead of future elections.
