According to a report by The Times Of Israel on April 12, 2026 Iran’s Parliamentary Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf says his country’s delegation raised “forward-looking” initiatives during negotiations in Islamabad, Pakistan, but the US failed to gain the trust of the Iranian team as the talks ended this morning without reaching an agreement.

Ghalibaf stated that the discussions were intended to present constructive proposals aimed at advancing diplomatic engagement and addressing longstanding tensions between Tehran and Washington. He said the Iranian delegation focused on outlining initiatives that could open the door to further dialogue, even as core disagreements remained unresolved during the meeting.

“The US has understood Iran’s logic and principles and it’s time for them to decide whether they can earn our trust or not,” Ghalibaf, who was among Iran’s negotiating team, says in a post on X.
