A senior US lawmaker has sharply criticized President Donald Trump over the ongoing conflict with Iran, warning that the war is damaging both American interests and global stability.

In a post shared on his verified social media account, Chris Murphy announced that the Senate would hold another vote aimed at ending what he described as Trump’s “disastrous Iran war.” He accused Republican lawmakers of planning to oppose the measure, while also attempting to divert public attention from the consequences of the conflict.

Murphy argued that the war has had the opposite of its intended effect, claiming it is strengthening Iran rather than weakening it. According to him, the conflict is “making Iran more powerful,” a development he described as a strategic failure with serious long-term implications.

The senator also criticized Republican support for the administration’s approach, alleging that lawmakers are avoiding substantive debate on the war’s impact. He claimed they are instead focusing on distractions to deflect criticism from what he characterized as “blind support” for policies that are harming the US economy and increasing global instability.
