Nigerian activist and African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has condemned the arrest of five men in Borno State over their alleged involvement in printing and wearing shirts bearing the inscription “Tinubu Must Go.”
According to Daily Trust, the Borno State Police Command arrested and arraigned the men in Maiduguri over the shirts.
Reacting to the development in a post on his official X handle on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, Sowore criticised the arrests, arguing that citizens should not face detention for expressing political opposition.
The activist also demanded that the charges against the five men be dropped and that they be released from detention.
Condemning their arrest, Sowore wrote, “I wholeheartedly condemn the unlawful arrest, humiliation, and detention of these citizens for freely expressing their political opposition to the failed Tinubu’s regime in Borno state”.
