In a recent interview from 43:48 on Channels TV, on Monday, June 1, 2026, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike addressed issues surrounding protests in the Federal Capital Territory, public order, and ongoing disputes involving activists and government land policies in Abuja.
During the conversation, Wike reflected on recent demonstrations held in the capital and the tensions they generated between protesters and authorities responsible for maintaining order in the city.
Speaking during the programme, Wike stated, “I can lead a protest against you; you dare not come to this place again.” He made the remark while reacting to protest activities in Abuja involving activist Omoyele Sowore and his supporters.
Wike explained that the government has a responsibility to ensure that public protests do not disrupt law and order or lead to unlawful occupation of public or designated lands in the capital city. He stressed that while citizens have the right to peaceful protest, such actions must remain within the bounds of the law.
The minister referenced concerns raised during recent demonstrations in Abuja, where protesters allegedly focused on land allocation issues and government policies under the Federal Capital Territory Administration. He insisted that all actions taken by the administration are guided by due process and legal frameworks.
