Former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi has defended his record in basic education, insisting that his administration performed exceptionally well in the sector and inviting Nigerians to verify his claim through official records.

According to a Daily Post report published on Wednesday, October 27, 2026, Obi made the remarks while discussing his achievements as governor ahead of the 2027 presidential election, in which he is identified in the report as a candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

Obi maintained that his administration prioritised basic education and delivered results that could be assessed through available records. He urged Nigerians to examine the evidence rather than rely on political arguments or unsupported claims about his performance.

Emphasising his confidence in the achievements recorded under his leadership, Obi said, “I was the best in education, basic education as a governor. You can go and check the records,” he said.

Education has remained a key part of Obi’s public record, with the former governor frequently stressing the importance of investing in human capital development. His latest remarks place his administration’s performance in Anambra State back in focus as political discussions build ahead of the 2027 election.
