Umar Faruk, a senior member of the Kwankwasiyya Movement and close associate of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has disclosed that plans for a joint presidential ticket involving Kwankwaso and Peter Obi are gaining momentum ahead of the 2027 general election.

In an interview with LEADERSHIP on Saturday May 2 2026, Faruk stated that consultations between both camps have reached an advanced stage, with key stakeholders already indicating support for the proposed alliance.

He explained that the arrangement is expected to feature Obi as the presidential candidate and Kwankwaso as his running mate, describing it as a strategic effort to strengthen opposition coordination.

Faruk noted that proponents of the alliance consider it a credible alternative capable of addressing national challenges and effectively contesting the dominance of the ruling party, noting that the understanding has largely been agreed upon in principle.
