The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has advised singles to seek divine direction before deciding who to marry, warning that emotional attraction alone is not enough to guarantee a successful union.

Speaking from 05:43:10 during a recent sermon at the church’s May 2026 Holy Ghost Service, Adeboye referenced Genesis 2:18, where God declared that it is not good for man to be alone, assuring unmarried worshippers that God remains interested in ending loneliness through the institution of marriage.

“God is the one who said it is not good that man should be alone,” Adeboye said. “He doesn’t like anything that is not good, and when He sees something not right, He corrects it.”

The cleric expressed confidence that God would provide suitable partners for those trusting Him. “On the basis of that, the Almighty God will soon put an end to your loneliness because He is a faithful God,” he added.

While addressing singles, Adeboye stressed the importance of maintaining purity while waiting for marriage. He warned against compromising moral values due to delayed expectations.

“You must keep yourself pure,” he said. “Don’t say because marriage is delayed and therefore you turn yourself into a harlot. Keep yourself pure.”

The pastor also urged young people to make prayer a major factor before committing to a relationship. According to him, many individuals make decisions based on feelings without seeking God’s guidance.

“And before you begin to decide on who to marry, please pray,” he advised. Referencing Proverbs 19:21, Adeboye noted that human plans may fail, but God’s purpose always prevails.

“There are many devices in the heart of man, but it is the counsel of the Lord that will stand,” he quoted from scripture.

He encouraged singles to specifically ask God for His perfect will in marriage, explaining that divine direction can prevent future regrets and emotional pain.
