Mansur Umar Kurugu, the second spokesperson of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, has praised Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso for setting aside his ambition to become president in favour of what he described as Nigeria’s national interest.
Speaking from 20:51 on the PAP Show, Kurugu discussed the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential ticket involving Peter Obi and Kwankwaso ahead of the 2027 general election.
He said Kwankwaso, who contested the presidency in 2023, had shown a willingness to step aside and support Obi, arguing that the presidency should go to the South in the next election.
Kurugu described the move as a significant sacrifice, saying it demonstrated Kwankwaso’s understanding of politics and governance. He added that the decision had helped the two politicians build a partnership ahead of the 2027 polls.
The Kwankwasiyya Movement spokesperson also claimed that the Obi-Kwankwaso alliance was attracting public support through its popularity and appeal, rather than relying solely on financial influence.
Praising Kwankwaso’s decision to put aside his personal ambition, Kurugu said, “For the first time, you have seen a candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who kept his own desire to be president aside and prioritized Nigeria.”
