Ibrahim Modibbo, a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has stated that he was displeased when he saw supporters of President Tinubu criticizing Cardinal John Onaiyekan after he offered advice to Tinubu concerning the country

In an interview from 24:22 with AIT, Modibbo stated that in 1962 Onaiyekan had the best West African School Certificate result in Sub-Saharan Africa. He said Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna of Sokoto, personally travelled from Kaduna to Onaiyekan’s school in Aliade to honour him for the outstanding academic achievement.

Modibbo added that the government and its supporters often respond to constructive criticism by attacking those who offer it.

In Modibbo’s words: “Not more than two days ago, some of the chorus boys of President Tinubu were attacking Cardinal John Onaiyekan. Cardinal Onaiyekan in [1962] had the best West African School Certificate in Sub-Saharan Africa. That was why Sardauna had to drive from Kaduna to Aliade where he had distinction, the best certificate”
