According to a report by Daily Post, on Thursday, July 23, 2026, former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Timi Frank, urged the administration of President Bola Tinubu to stop what he described as misleading claims regarding an alleged endorsement letter from United States President Donald Trump.
In a statement released on Thursday, Frank challenged the Presidency to make the complete version of the letter available to the public if it truly exists.
According to him, Nigerians deserve to see the full content of the correspondence instead of relying on selected portions being presented by government officials.
Frank argued that the document being celebrated by the Presidency appeared to be nothing more than a routine diplomatic communication between two countries working together on security issues.
He maintained that such correspondence should not be portrayed as an endorsement of Tinubu’s leadership or administration.
He further questioned the authenticity of the document, insisting that any official communication from the President of the United States should contain clear identifying features associated with the White House.
“The letter is not from the White House. If it doesn’t have the White House seal and the signature of the President of the United States, it appears dubious at best,” Frank said while expressing doubts about the document the Federal Government has been celebrating.
Frank also maintained that even if the letter was genuine, it should not be interpreted as political support for President Tinubu or his government.
According to him, the reported correspondence merely acknowledged Nigeria’s cooperation with the United States in addressing security challenges, particularly terrorism, and should not be stretched beyond that purpose.
He stated that the letter simply appreciated Nigeria’s partnership with the United States in tackling insecurity and did not contain any statement endorsing Tinubu’s leadership, economic reforms, government policies or future political ambitions.
Frank accused the Presidency of attempting to reshape public perception by presenting an ordinary diplomatic message as something with greater political significance.
He also drew attention to the reported date on the letter, noting that it was said to have been written on July 6 but only surfaced publicly several weeks later.
According to him, if the correspondence truly represented a significant political endorsement from President Trump, it would have been released immediately rather than emerging much later.
Frank argued that the excitement surrounding the document suggested that the Federal Government was seeking international validation and credibility.
A government that enjoys genuine confidence in its standing would not place so much importance on what he described as an ordinary diplomatic exchange.
