The National Chairman of the Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA), Samuel Memeh, has made fresh remarks concerning Nigeria’s political leadership and the credibility of long-serving public officeholders seeking higher political positions ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Memeh made the remarks during an interview from 22:23 on Symfoni TV, where he spoke on political accountability, leadership performance, and the track records of prominent politicians in Nigeria’s democratic space.

He said, “What did he do as minister? He was a governor, and now he wants to become President,” suggesting that Nigerians must critically evaluate the performance of individuals who have held both state and federal positions before supporting their aspirations for the presidency.

He maintained that leadership should be assessed based on tangible results in areas such as infrastructure development, economic management, security improvement, and social welfare delivery, rather than political longevity or influence.

The DLA chairman also reiterated that his party is committed to promoting a new political culture centered on accountability and performance evaluation as Nigeria approaches the 2027 elections.
