In a recent interview from 22:45 on Symfoni TV, Samuel Memeh, National Chairman of the Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA), spoke on Nigeria’s political leadership, opposition dynamics, and the credibility of major political figures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
During the interview, Memeh stated, “Peter Obi was the governor of Anambra State. Did he change Anambra into Dubai?” He made the remark while assessing the performance of past governors and questioning the standards used in evaluating political candidates in Nigeria.
Memeh explained that leadership should be judged based on measurable development outcomes rather than political narratives or popularity. According to him, Nigerians often overlook the records of politicians when they seek higher office, focusing instead on campaign messaging and public perception.
He noted that discussions around governance must include a careful review of past achievements in areas such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, and economic growth. He argued that the expectation for rapid transformation must be balanced with realistic assessments of available resources and governance constraints.
The DLA chairman also stressed that the opposition space in Nigeria is filled with experienced politicians who have held various positions in government over the years. He maintained that voters must critically evaluate whether such individuals have delivered meaningful progress when entrusted with public office.
