Senator Shehu Sani, a renowned human rights activist and former Kaduna central senatorial district lawmaker has made a striking comment regarding the calls for the creation of state police.
According to the statements which were shared on his official X handle, he pointed out that while the justification for its creation had gained momentum, the people should be aware of the consequences.
Amid the rising cases of bandits activities across the country, many had called on the federal government to institute state controlled police across different states in the country to tackle insurgency from the grassroots.
However, Shehu Sani maintained that instituting a state controlled police might have consequences which included but not limited to weaponization of the force against the people.
