According to a report by The Sun, on Tuesday May 5, 2026, Buba Galadima, a close ally of Rabiu Kwankwaso, has confirmed that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has zoned its 2027 presidential ticket to the southern region of Nigeria, stating that the decision is part of the party’s internal arrangements ahead of the next general election.
Galadima explained that the party had already completed key discussions on zoning and was now preparing for formal electoral processes, he said the NDC has also concluded plans to submit its membership register to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), according to him, this step will mark an important milestone for the party as it positions itself for 2027 political activities.
Galadima stressed that the presidential ticket has been clearly allocated to the South, he said the party leadership is united on the decision and there is no disagreement over the zoning arrangement.
He noted that the NDC will not impose any candidate on members, instead, he said the party will allow a democratic process where aspirants can contest freely, he confirmed that primaries will be used to select the party’s presidential candidate.
