Former vice presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Yusuf Baba-Ahmed, has raised doubts over the political feasibility of pairing Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as a running mate to Peter Obi in any potential opposition arrangement ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking during an interview FROM 20:43 on Channels Television on Tuesday April 28, 2026, Baba-Ahmed questioned the logic behind suggestions that Kwankwaso could serve as a vice-presidential candidate, given his political stature and experience.
He pointed out that Kwankwaso, a former two-term governor, minister, deputy speaker and senator, commands significant political weight, making the idea of him deputising another presidential contender difficult to reconcile within Nigeria’s political hierarchy.
